If a student understands the function of fluoride, for example, the various brands or forms of fluoride application can be more fully appreciated.Second, exploring various but similar brands of reasonably identical products is redundant. There are (for example) ten brands of composite presented, each of which reads like a package insert, complete with marketing catchphrases. Ingredients are included, but not what their significance, structure or function might be.Finally, there are errors in presentation. For example, the uneven use of the terms "conditioner", "etchant" or "acid etch". They are all the same, but that point is not made in the text.This Guide needs more work (or other textbooks) to be made useful.

I was asked to write documentation for my company's software and, while I got through the whole process, I knew I wanted to learn more about how to write documentation correctly. I didn't realize there was so much I didn't know about this field. I was looking for a book that was not too long, so I could read it between work assignments, and easy to understand for somebody with a very modest technical background. This book had a casual tone of voice that made it very enjoyable to read. I also learned A LOT, considering this is a relatively short book. Definitely recommend.

I highly recommend Modern Technical Writing. I have been a Web and Technical Writer/Editor for most of my career, but during the last five years, I have been more focused on Web communication. I found this book on Amazon and thought that it would be a great refresher, and I was right. It’s also a great primer for people who are new to Technical Writing.

Functionally a primer for novice software documentation writers and possibly a quick reference for intermediate documentation writers. Concise, eloquent, and refreshingly frank, the book helped me update my cerebral software from the Barker's exhaustive but dated Writing Software Documentation for my tech writing students. I hope the author continues to update this little gem.

It's a good view of the practices of a working technical writer. It'd be good paired with a textbook for a student learning more about the world of tech writing. It's also very specific to the world of software, and a lot of tech writing still occurs with durable goods (heavy manufacturing). But for 10,000 words or so, it's very on point and useful.

It is a lighthearted book with very brief descriptions of attractions and restaurants in Branson. There is very little information for 150 page book, however. The font is super huge and with only one attraction per page (and just a few sentences of description on each topic), it seems as though the 150 pages could actually be less than 40 pages in a regular format.

However, as a retired Professor of English, I can fail a relative for bad writing and research easier and quicker than a politician can turn himself into a lobbyist. Although not British (the main audience for this book), we found very useful the warning and cautions of the authors. Indeed, many rural (rustica) properties in Spain have been partly or in whole build illegally. The burden of paying fines and regularizing the situation is falling on the current owner. It can be very expensive.The book helped in every step.

Lot's of good information. Well written and very informative. The only addition that would be useful is a checklist of steps and resources at the end of the book to help focus the process. It's a lot of information to keep in mind!
