The book was great. I am now inspired that's for sure. This book helps explains proper form, shoes, terrain, target heart rate for weight loss or cardio endurance, nutrition, common injuries, overcoming mental blocks and more. I decided I have to run to treat my depression and be strong for my family. Having a motivator really helps. Now I look forward to running and I understand the different types of training options. I hope one day I can do hill training like the book recommends. For now I've been running about 3 miles a day on a treadmill with a one percent incline. There's so much good stuff in this book!
Just started reading it on android kindle (in case you weren't aware) and it's really good! Inspiring thru informative style of writing.
If your looking for a book to get you started this is it, not full of "cool runner speak" about stuff that you dont need to know at the beginning. Put shoes on "any shoes" walk run walk run repeat try to get further each week as your body allows and enjoy yourself. You wont be running marathons in a year but you will get to places you never dreamed of physically and mentally. As a sixty year old overwieght who never liked to run this got me going and the leaner younger runners out there always acknowledge me with an encouraging smile or wave.
I am truly enjoying this book! It's very easy to read and relate to and is full of wonderful knowledge.I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because I feel like sometimes the author is a bit wordy. But all around,this book is amazing and I would highly recommend to others!
I enjoyed reading this book as a person who needed a kick in the pants to get back out and actually look forward to my next run. Very sensible advice, and a very inspiring read.
I recently started running and wasn't sure of all the technical "stuff' one needed to know to be well informed about running and this book helped open my eyes and made me feel more comfortable about running, very good read.
