I JUST GOT AND READ MAILING MAY ABOUT HOW SWEET LITTLE MAY PIERSTPRFF WANTED TO SEE HER BELOVED GRANDMA FOR HER SIXTH BIRTHDAY AND SHE WAS MAILED WHAT FUN THAT WAS I JUST LOVE THE TRUE STORY. OF MAY. HOWEVER , THERE ARE A FEW THINGS THAT ARE WRONG ABOUT THE STORY FIRST OF ALL IT WAS HER MOTHER NOT HER FATHER WHO TOOK HER TO THE POST OFFICE AND IT WAS HER MOTHER WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA. AND IT WAS HER MOTHER WHO UT THE STAMPS ON HER COAT.AND ONE REVIEWER SAID HER AUNT WAS MAYS SISTER MAY WAS A OLNY CHILD I SAW A STORY ABOUT HER ON TV MYSTERIES AT THE MUSEUM AND IT SAID NOTHING ABOUT HER HAVING ANYBROTHERS OR SISTERS IN THE BOOK AND ON TV. THIS LADY ;S AUNT MAY HAVE BEEN MAYS MOTHER SISTER THEY WOULD HAVE SSAID SOMETHING ABOUT HER BROTHERS AND SISTERS ON TV IF SHE HAD ANY WHICH THEY DID NOT SAY THAT SHE HAD ANY BROTHERS AND SISTERS. B ECAUSE SHE DIDN'T HAVE ANY BROTHERS OR SISTERS. I THINK THAT LADY MAY GOT HER FACTS WRONG ABOUT MAY HAVING BROTHERS AND SISTERS. BUT, ANYWAY I LOVED STORY ON TV AND LOVE THE BOOK I JUST WISH IT WAS LONGER AND TOLD MORE ABOUT MAY. BUT , I JUST LOVE THE BOOK AND YOU WILL TOO.
A beautifully written true story. This story has been in our family for many years in the form of a newspaper article and it was a delight to find that it had been translated into a children's book. May was my aunt's sister ad I am sending a copy of the book to her great-great neice. Mr. Tunnell did a magnificent job turning this into a children's book and as a family member we are delighted! I recommend it to all kids who want a taste of the time when we could still do things like this. Excellent book!
I picked up this book after reading trivia that related to the true story of a little girl who was mailed to her grandparents. I wasn't expecting such a charming book. The illustrations are beautifully done and add to the story. And it's true! I can't recommend this book enough.
I love this story about a girl at the turn of the century who is mailed so that she can visit her grandmother. Her family decides to mail her due to the fact that they are poor and it is cheaper to mail her than to buy a regular ticket for travel. The book is an adventure and it will amaze your children to learn that a child was sent through the mail.
This beautifully illustrated children's book tells the story of how a little girl in northern Idaho came to visit her grandmother. I won't give the story away by describing all of it because I want people to actually buy the book for their own families. The book is wonderfully illustrated and the story is true. Our whole family has gotten a kick out of it.
This is a MUST book for parents/grandparents to read to children to show the "passages of bonding between generations." It is a wonderful story and true and it shows to what great lengths the parents went to to make sure their daughter got to travel to visit her Grandmother.......at a time in history when this was not readily done.
Perfect ! Such a interesting story especially if you’re from Idaho.
I use this author's text book in my college class. So, when I heard he had written a children's book, I was excited to share this with my students. They loved the reading of it, so I put it on youtube. My friends' children love hearing me read this. Lovely story.
